Who We Are

Florida State Public Safety's goal is to provide a safe and secure environment for the students, faculty, staff and visitors to the university. The Department exists to support the educational mission of the university. We do this by providing a multitude of services which include highly trained police officers, communications operators, records staff, access and security systems, emergency management systems as well as transportation services. Our primary purpose is to provide a safe and secure environment so that teaching and learning at the Florida State University can excel.

The Public Safety department has four (4) sections whose purpose and functions include:

FSU Police Department -- protection of life and property for the FSU community, law enforcement and investigation, crime prevention, security for designated functions.

Transportation & Parking Services (TAPS) -- responsible for developing and overseeing transit services providing access to campus and the surrounding area as well as managing the day to day parking operations.

Emergency Management -- responsible for coordinating the University's preparation for, response to, and recovery from any major emergency, no matter the cause.

Campus Access and Security Systems (CASS) -- consultation for Security Services, FSU Card Access, Intrusion Alarm Systems (IAS), Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV), Emergency Phone Program.
